The designation "Tandoori" is derived from the tandoor oven, which is particularly common in northern India, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Tandoori chicken is a particularly popular dish that usually consists of chicken marinated in a reddish spiced yogurt marinade and then grilled in the tandoor oven. For our vegan tandoori chicken we use seitan or tofu instead of chicken. 🍟
In the following video from YouTube, the recipe is explained step by step. But don't worry, we will also summarize it again text form for you, so you can follow the preparation very easily 🙂 .
For the vegan tandoori chicken you need the following ingredients:
First you should use the Seitan or tofu into bite-sized pieces and then mix with the soy yogurt in a bowl. Then you add the Spices and lemon juice and mix everything well together until all pieces are evenly covered with the marinade. Then let the whole thing marinate for at least two hours, better overnight, in the refrigerator. 🍳
After the seitan or tofu pieces are sufficiently marinated, they can be grilled. Both the grill and a conventional pan are suitable for this. Serve the vegan tandoori chicken with fresh side dishes of your choice, such as a fresh salad or delicious naan bread. 🥗
