For our vegan Mapo Tofu recipe, you'll need the following ingredients:
Do you have all the ingredients ready? Then let's start the preparation! 😁
The first step is to cut the tofu into small cubes and chop the scallions, peppers and mushrooms. Don't forget to crush the garlic! After you have prepared all the ingredients, you can start cooking. 😄
Now it's time to fry everything together. Heat some oil in a pan and add the chopped spring onions, peppers and mushrooms. Fry everything together until the scallions are lightly browned and the mushrooms are soft. Then add the crushed garlic and the chili bean paste and fry everything for another 2-3 minutes 🙂 .
The next step is to add the tofu. Add the tofu cubes to the pan and stir gently to make sure the tofu is covered with the sauce. You can also add soy sauce and Sichuan pepper to give the dish more flavor. Let everything simmer for about 5 minutes. 😊
The last step is to mix the cornstarch with a little water and add it to the pan. The cornstarch will help thicken the sauce and make it glossy. Let the dish cook for a few more minutes until the sauce reaches the desired consistency. And voila, your vegan mapo tofu is ready to serve! 😋
