Baozi are dumplings made of yeast dough, which are widely used in Asian cuisine. Originally from China, they are a popular meal there at almost any time of day. They are traditionally filled with meat or vegetables. To make them vegan, we use a variety of delicious vegetables and spices. See for yourself! 😊

Mix the yeast with the warm water and the flour. Make sure that the yeast is well dissolved. Then add the oil and salt and knead everything into a smooth dough. Then let the dough rise in a warm place for about an hour. The dough should double in size during this time. Wow, homemade baozi dough! 👏
Now it's time for the filling. For this, dice the tofu and marinate with the soy sauce. Cut the carrots and cabbage into fine strips. Finely chop the spring onions and garlic and fry them in some vegetable oil. Then add the vegetables and the marinated tofu and stir in the sesame oil. Ready is the delicious vegan filling! 👍
Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll out each piece into a circle and fill the center with the prepared vegetable tofu mixture. Seal the dumplings by pinching the edges together. This takes some practice, but don't worry, it doesn't have to be perfect. The main thing is to keep the filling inside! 😁
Prepare a steamer tray or bamboo steamer and line it with baking paper. Attention, the paper should be perforated with holes beforehand. Place your baozi on it and steam them over boiling water for about 15 minutes. Now you've done it! Freshly baked, steaming vegan baozi are waiting to be eaten. 😋
